IcSnow® Cooling-NIR Nylon Yarn: UPF50+ Sun Protection Without Heat Buildup
An outdoor apparel brand had built its sun-protection hoodie line around dense, tightly-woven UPF fabric — effective at blocking UV, but a poor performer in real-world heat. Standard UV-blocking fabrics work by tightly packing fibers to physically stop UV transmission, which simultaneously traps body heat and blocks airflow. Dark colorways commonly used in sun-protective apparel absorb near-infrared solar radiation, pushing surface fabric temperature even higher under direct sun.
