Traditional fabrics either pilled quickly, lost shape, or caused discomfort during extended wear.

Understanding Equestrian Demands
Horse riders face unique challenges: constant friction against saddle leather, repetitive leg movements requiring 4-way stretch, sweat accumulation during intense training, and the need for grip stability. Standard athletic fabrics fail under these conditions – they pill within weeks, lose compression, and develop odor from bacterial growth in moisture-trapped areas.

Rethinking Fiber Chemistry
We explored volcanic mud technology – a natural mineral compound containing silicon, magnesium, zinc, and selenium. When integrated into polyamide fibers at the molecular level, these minerals create a self-cleaning surface that resists bacterial colonization while emitting far-infrared rays to improve microcirculation. But could we engineer this into a stretchy, abrasion-resistant fabric?

Engineering the Blend
Our breakthrough came from combining Time Capsule Volcanic Mud PA6 yarn with premium spandex in a specialized knit structure. The volcanic mud particles (encapsulated at nano-scale) provide antimicrobial protection and moisture absorption, while the PA6 base offers superior abrasion resistance compared to standard nylon. The spandex component ensures 360° stretch recovery, maintaining shape even after 100+ wash cycles.

Optimizing for Saddle Friction
We engineered a double-knit construction with higher density in high-friction zones (inner thighs, seat area) while maintaining breathability in heat zones. The volcanic mud’s natural grip properties eliminate the need for silicone prints, providing non-slip performance that actually improves with wear as the minerals activate through body heat.
